Privacy & Frosted Window Film
Frosted, etched and one-way privacy film fitted across Belfast and Northern Ireland.
Privacy window film stops people seeing into a room while still letting light through. It is applied to glass you already have and needs no blinds, curtains or replacement glazing.
There are two broad approaches. Frosted and etched films obscure the view in both directions permanently, which suits bathrooms, glass doors and office partitions. Reflective films give one-way daytime privacy, so the room stays bright and the view out is kept, which suits ground floor living rooms facing a street or a neighbour.
Frosted and etched film
Frosted film gives a uniform translucent finish that passes light but blocks detail from both sides, day and night. It is the standard choice for bathrooms, en-suites, shower screens, glass office partitions and front door side panels. It can be applied to the full pane or cut to a band, a pattern or a shape, which is a common way to give privacy at seated height while keeping clear glass above.
One-way reflective film
Reflective privacy film works on a difference in light level. During daylight the outside is brighter than the inside, so the film reads as a mirror from outside and stays largely transparent from within. This reverses after dark once interior lights are on, at which point the room becomes visible again. Anyone told a reflective film gives round-the-clock privacy has been misled. If night-time privacy is the requirement, frosted film or blinds are the honest answer.
Where it is usually fitted
The most common domestic jobs are ground floor front rooms overlooked by a pavement, bathrooms and en-suites, glazed front doors and side panels, and rear extensions overlooked by neighbouring properties. In commercial settings it is meeting rooms, glass partitions, consulting rooms and street-facing shopfronts.
Custom patterns and branding
Frosted film can be cut to a design, including logos, banding, and manifestation marks for glass doors and partitions. We can source film to a specification in a range of colours, textures and finishes where a standard frost is not the look you want.

Privacy & Frosted Window Film
Does privacy film work at night?
Frosted and etched films do, because they obscure the glass permanently in both directions. Reflective one-way films do not. They rely on the outside being brighter than the inside, so once it is dark and your lights are on, the effect reverses and the room becomes visible. Choose frosted film if night-time privacy matters.
Can I still see out through frosted film?
No. Frosted film passes light but obscures detail in both directions. If you want to keep the view, a reflective daytime privacy film or a partial frost applied only to the lower part of the pane are the two options worth discussing.
Can frosted film be cut to a pattern or logo?
Yes. Film can be cut to banding, geometric patterns, manifestation marks for glass doors, or a company logo. Send us the design or describe what you are after and we will tell you what is achievable on your glass.
Is privacy film removable?
Yes. Window film is applied to the inner face of the glass and can be removed. Removal is a job worth doing properly, since rushing it can leave adhesive residue on the pane.
